austin-based musician eliot lipp delivers “skywave”, an album lipp has been working on for the past several months. with influences from sci-fi soundtracks and 70s and 80s funk, he channels a collection of weird, high-definition, melodic beats. in these nine songs lipp feels he “might have everything i want to say in one moment.” recreating key musical moments in a current and relatable way was the goal in producing skywave and giving himself permission to take some risks as well. with a versatile approach, lipp has created opportunities to connect with some of the artists he first looked up to, playing in cities across america and abroad always returning to his hometown in the pacific northwest. collaboration plays a role in all his albums. he’s been a fan of emancipator for a years now and was beyond excited to get his “not quite awake” remix. he asked dmc champ chris karns to scratch on ‘joyride’. in addition to doing cuts, chris ended up playing live drums and layering unique vocal samples. ‘reflection’ came from a jam session with gibbz and cherub in their nashville studio. one of lipp’s biggest musical influences last year came from a group of producers from seattle that call themselves fish tank friends. most of them had a hand in the early stages of ‘spiders’. with monthly trips planned from texas back to washington, he anticipates more evenings surrounded by friends, fans, and new listeners where he brings everyone together through the touch of a button.

spiros kaloumenos has been one of the key artists of planet rhythm at an earlier stage. this time he’s back with a completely recrafted style that perfectly fits the label’s current state of mind. adventurous techno with thumping beats and at times a little acidic touch. the greek artist comes up with a killer four track ep that goes from the sturdy beats of introvert shadow, through the acid tainted 101 reasons to the rave inspired anthem called de forme. we’re happy to welcome spiros back to planet rhythm.

elizabeth merrick-jefferson is one of those artists who seem low-key. theres not a lot of information about her, if any, except for the existence of the first two records and a lone interview. one released in 2013 and the other in 2014. listening to either record tells you her music might be a lot of things, but low-key isnt one of them. powerful and colourful, direct, and with 313 references embedded in its dna, she pulls it off with style. elizabeths third record is no exception. it has found its home on our mothership label, burek. three happiness is tailor-made for the dance floor. it wont leave anyone with a pulse standing. playful synths, wonderful strings, and infectious groove make it impossible to ignore. knowledge revolution is layered and paced, painting a somewhat different picture. melancholy and a sense of mystery envelop this track, whose leitmotif vocal appears just frequently enough to provide insight into the title. the last track of this ep is fittingly titled noctilucent clouds. its a drumless track with a rhythmic main synth counterpointed by sounds which give off the impression of clouds shining through the darkness of winter nights. another amazing release from burek.

nice price deal !!! a key milestone in the labels discography. the ep begins with a cool drifting taste of modulated pads, rhythmic guitar and simple drum work. highlighting a bit more of a funky disco groove, atlantis is a liquid soul jam for the ages. the beat picks up with count down to zero, as an uber progressive hypnotic loop track gets lost in the smooth key stabs. the tribal vibe picks up with dont look down, adding some more percussion, slow attack synth chords and crazy rhodes melodies. gabriel slows things down to a lazy dubbed-out house cut full of succulent strings, charismatic claps and middle-eastern harmonies. great for the late-night club slot or an introspective headphone listen, this solid ep is a sure fire success!

nice price deal !!! andrea doria is such a maniac in the best possible way for sure, when its about creating soundscapes, noisy filters and funky percussion breaks. with tracks like >arsenico< or >exit<, he stopped beeing nice and presents the dirrrrty side of italian sound made in bologna. distortion, bitreduction and noise are the key elements accompanied by stomping grooves that can t be resisted. not less placed in the range of loud and proud sound comes >summertime< with beautiful harmonics, paired along its deep, subtle bassline ready to blast every afterparty.
